GDU COLTS

There are few who can match them one on
one. In the forward mix also were Brett Cronin,
such a team man, Jake Haines, rotating out of
ruck and such a willing team player although a
banged-up and busted ankle didn’t help him
with game time, and Noah Gray, who has
come such a long way in his footy. Watch this
bloke next year.
Albert Atme, rotated out of fullback, but his
skills meant we had to let him play on the wing
along with hard nut Braydon Andrew, a fast
and true in and under player. Charlie Keyhoe,
so good to have Charlie back, was a player
whose attitude and skills are greater than his
size suggest. JT ran through here as well, and
can he run, two broken wrists slowed him for a
bit (not a misprint - two)
With defenders we were blessed. Tozer
(Michael, but nobody calls him that) is the
epitome of the defender, in hard, tackles,
punches and kicks long. Across half back we
looked for drive from Hammer (Hamish) and
Wally. They seldom if ever disappointed.
Wally’s runs are fantastic, Hammer is in and
under always. Both took on field rotations
though mid field. Jack Silvagni, when able to
play, also played off half-back and does not
disappoint. Justin Limburg and Vaughan
Smith two of the best CHB in the land and
gave us stability and purpose. Vaughn had to
sit out a lot of the season with busted ribs, but
was good towards the end of the season and
a welcome return to the side. Cody Elford, has
silky skills and works best with the ball coming
to him but also played running roles on other
parts of the ground and kicked some great
goals. Dave Fornito, who made 150 games
mid-way through the season, strong hands, is
a quality mark and a long kick. Jesse Fakhri is
fast and courageous. Liam Hamilton always
laid a terrifying tackle and is a player who
worked with real commitment to achieve great
results. Matty Balon, who has the physique
God meant Bill to have, did not concede a
single goal to a direct opponent till round ten,
by our count and just about needed
counselling after it. And no GDU backline is
complete without Tristan Damm. Tristan has
little respect for his body or anybody else’s,
working fearlessly in defence to thwart many
forward attacks by the opposition and, when
played further up the ground, would always
add some effort to the contest. He came off
round two with a busted collar bone (VERY
Snaps of Grand Final action. The Demons made obvious) and said to Craig “get my jumper of
the Grand Final in their first year together, quick Craig, this is really going to hurt soon
