Kingston Financial Planning has been part of the southern Tasmanian community since 2002. We're not a call centre or a corporate machine — we're a local practice where the person you meet is the person who looks after your money.
Geoff Axton has been working in financial services since June 1978 — over 45 years — and has held Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) status since March 1998. He holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants (FIPA), making him one of the most credentialled practitioners in the state.
Before moving into financial planning, Geoff spent 18 years as Business Services and Tax Manager at a leading Launceston chartered accounting firm. That accounting foundation gives him a depth of tax and structuring knowledge that most financial planners simply don't have. He then spent four years in senior investment research and technical roles — including portfolio modelling and financial planning support at a national level — and served on an Investment Committee responsible for developing research policies and monitoring approved product funds.
That career arc — from qualified accountant to investment researcher to financial planner — means Geoff can look at a client's situation from multiple angles at once. Tax consequences, investment structures, superannuation strategy, and the long-term plan all get considered together, not in isolation.
Kingston Financial Planning operates on a fee-for-service basis, independent of fund managers and financial institutions. The advice you receive is shaped entirely by what's right for your situation — not by commissions or product incentives.
Outside the office, Geoff enjoys freshwater flyfishing in Tasmania's Highland Lakes and recreational sea angling off the East Coast. He is a Life Member of Evandale Cricket Club.
Authorised Representative of Charter Financial Planning. Charter is one of Australia's largest and most respected financial planning networks, with over 30 years of operation. This affiliation gives our clients access to a rigorous compliance framework, research resources, and insurance capabilities that would otherwise be unavailable to a boutique practice.
We don't follow a script. But there are a few things we believe are non-negotiable in how we work with clients.
We don't have cookie-cutter strategies. Every recommendation we make starts with a real understanding of your situation — your goals, your concerns, and what keeps you up at night.
Financial planning has a lot of jargon. We don't use it to impress you — we translate it. You'll always understand exactly what we're recommending and why before you agree to anything.
Your circumstances change. Your advice should too. We're not interested in a one-off transaction — we want to be your planner for decades, not just your planner for this year.
We live here too. We understand the property market, the pace of life, and what financial security means to someone building a life in southern Tasmania.
As an authorised representative of Charter Financial Planning, we operate within a robust compliance framework. Your interests are protected by some of the strongest regulations in the financial services industry.
We'd rather you ask and understand than stay silent and be unsure. That goes for the initial meeting and every conversation after it.
A straightforward conversation with Geoff could give you more clarity than years of going it alone. There's no obligation — just honest, practical advice from someone who's been doing this for over two decades.
