Best & Fairest – Darcy Feutrill

Our Best & Fairest for the first time was Darcy Feutrill who got just rewards
for his incredible determination and hard play. Darcy has been on a
pathway of consistent improvement over the past 4 years but really
displayed his full ability this year. Not only is he tough, lightning quick but
his skills greatly developed this year which meant that his possessions
really hurt opposition. Darcy is also a natural leader and I felt he really
grew with his leadership throughout the year. Darcy finished in top 12 in
the league count reflecting all of our views on his great season;
“You’re a true champ, Knucklehead!”

Runner-Up Best & Fairest – Matt Exell
Matt Exell deservedly took out second best & fairest only two votes behind
Darcy. Monkey’s determination, work rate and natural ability shone
throughout a tough year. Playing in the middle, half back and occasionally
key forward, Monkey was always a dangerous player. In addition to his
great skills, Monkey is an incredibly hard worker on the ground. He is a
very popular member of our team always with a smile on his face and a
positive word to say.

Third Best & Fairest – Mike Papas
Our wonderful centreman, Mike Papas came third in the B&F polling,
edging out Jamie Lay by 1 vote. Mike’s run and attack on the ball was a
crucial part of our A grade “on ball” line up. Mike’s kicking greatly
improved this year along with his strength and attack on the ball.
“Well done Mike, you had a great year and are an absolute pleasure to
coach!”

Most Improved – Michael Tynan
Two of our most improved players were Fin Pike and Michael Tynan. Both
boys improved their football enormously throughout the year and matured
greatly as players. They should be very proud of their improvement and
contribution to the team. In the end I have awarded the most improved
player award to Michael Tynan whose improved marking, kicking and
general play meant so much to our team. As I said previously Mike
shouldered a huge load and in a small bodied team, his big strong body
work was a real highlight.
