The Training and Learning Bonus is a once-off bonus payable to individuals who are recipients of the Following Government benefits as at 3 February 2009:-
- Youth Allowance;
- Austudy or ABSTUDY;
- Veteran’s Children Education Scheme payments;
- Sickness Allowance or Special Benefit (under pension age); and - FTB-A where the family has one or more eligible dependent full time students between 21 to 24 years old (the bonus will be paid per student in this case). Where the above eligibility criteria are met, payment by Cetrenlink will occur automatically in the fortnight commencing 24 March 2009. In addition, the following related bonuses may be available: - For dependant full time secondary or tertiary students in approved courses who are between 19 and 20 years old, if their family receives FTB-A, they make an application to Centrelink for a once-off $950 bonus; and
- For eligible social security recipients, who are eligible for the existing $208 Education Entry Payment (EEP) a temporary additional supplement of $950 will be available for the period 1 January 2009 to 30 June 2010. UEFO has also explained eligibility for EEP to Youth Allowance recipients and the qualifying period for all EEP purposes will be reduced to four weeks from the previous 12 month requirement.
