Our Identity

Quality to trust

Italian Fencing Academy is a premier fencing club founded on the extensive experience of Maestro Antonio Signorello who has trained athletes for 6 Olympic Games cycles of which 8 years as coach with the Italian Olympic Team and 15 years as head coach of the Australian Team.

Maestro Antonio Signorello

“My coaching philosophy is built on nurturing three essential qualities in every fencer: autonomy, temperament, and authority. I believe fencing excellence stems not just from technical skill, but from an independent personality capable of making sound decisions, managing emotions under pressure, and carrying oneself with confidence and conviction. I strive to create an environment that avoids rigidity and allows athletes to experiment, learn, and grow through both success and mistakes. By fostering these qualities from the earliest stages, my goal is to develop not only accomplished fencers, but also resilient, self-reliant individuals prepared for challenges both on and off the piste.”

Maestro Antonio Signorello

Italian Style Philosophy

The Italian school of fencing has shaped champions for centuries, and it’s still one of the very top in the world.

Known for its elegance, precision, and tactical brilliance as well as for its “self perpetuating system”, it represents a living heritage of skill and artistry.

At our Academy, we honour this proud tradition while embracing the demands of modern competition.

Through a careful balance of classical technique and contemporary training methods, we prepare our students not only to excel on the piste but also to develop confidence, focus, selfless contribution and determination that extend far beyond it.
