Minimum conditions for any Victorian employee not covered by Federal awards or agreements changed on 1st January 2004. |
Annual leave accrues on the anniversary date by multiplying by four the usual hours worked in a week or the average of ordinary hours. Hours when absent on leave count as ordinary hours. The other minimums have not changed.
Personal leave is the old sick leave, plus carers leave for a member of the immediate family or household, who is sick and requires their care. This is a total of eight days per year except when less than one year of employment, although, only five is available as carers leave.
Bereavement leave for two days on death of member of immediate family or household.
Shutdown provisions allows the employer to deduct payment for any part of a day, which the employee cannot usefully be employed because of strike, breakdown of machinery or stoppage of work, for any cause for which the employer cannot reasonably be held responsible.
