CRACK DOWN ON LATE BAS |
The Tax Commissioner, Mr. Michael Carmody has said that the Tax Office is to crack down on late lodgement of business activity statements and would broaden penalties to include those who miss only one deadline. He said the Tax Office had already issued 20,000 penalties to those who failed to lodge two or more BAS by May 31 and penalties will be applied on a much broader basis in the new financial year.
Mr. Carmody welcomed the tough penalty recently handed down by the Courts when a man was jailed for GST fraud.
