Without any fanfare, the Commissioner has just announced (15 February 2013) that taxpayers using a tax agent will no longer receive a refund cheque.
The only option will be a bank account credit.
There was an uproar when Telstra told all Australians that they would never receive a dividend cheque – direct credits to a bank account were the only method.
At least, as far as the announcement goes, there will not be insistence that the refund goes to an account of the same name – how many couples only have joints accounts?
