Australia has 8 of the Worlds 500 largest corporations ranked by revenue but none feature in the top 50. It's not many but still impressive for a population base of only 23 million.
BHP Billiton is our biggest revenue earner but only comes in at 142 which is down from its 115 ranking in 2012.
Combined revenue of the Global 500 was US$31.1 trillion by end 2013 and profit jumped by 27% from 2012 to just fall short of US$2 trillion.
Remarkable numbers when you consider that the global financial crisis was only 6 years ago.
