Update- Fortune Global 500

Any good Accountant will tell you that profit can be expressed in many different ways but the only one that really matters is the dollar profit.

At US$32.8b Nestle has taken first place in terms of the highest dollar profit for the Fortune Global 500 for 2010 which represents a 242% increase on the previous year.

Interestingly, Wal-Mart Stores is still ranked 1 in terms of revenue at US$421.8b but has dropped to number 14 in terms of dollar profit with US$16.3b which represents a 14.3% on the previous year.

Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway came in at 26 with a US$12.9b dollar profit representing a  61.0% increase while our very own BHP Billiton came in at 28 (climbing from 159) with a US$12.7b dollar profit representing a 116.5% increase in profit on the previous year.

The media keeps writing that the world is in financial crisis but yet the profits keep coming which is why an investor should always been looking to buy into quality companies at reasonable or better still, discounted prices.

At Newealth we are always looking to support and promote our clients wherever possible and if you have any ideas or comments, please feel free to email me via ‘Contact Us’ at www.newealth.com.au or to call me on +61 2 9267 2322.
