GFC (Global Financial Crisis) Wal King joined Leighton's Holding in 1968 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1987. Leighton's Holding is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and has become a recognised name and leader in the development and contracting field. During a recent Melbourne Mining Club lunch Wal King, a CEO of 22 years was quoted as saying that the global financial crisis is just a ‘bump’ in Australia’s commodities boom. The Australian stock market has fallen by over 50% from peak to trough and it was just a ‘bump’. What exactly did he know that the rest of us did not?
