Choosing an executor is an important decision to make sure that a person’s wishes and affairs are properly managed after they die. An executor may choose to engage professional advisers to assist in this process, but there is no legal requirement. The process of obtaining Probate gives creditors and potential beneficiaries an opportunity to make claims and for the executor to finalise the administration. Specific roles - see Specific Roles of an Executor.
